Hollywood in Mourning: Beloved Actress Dies Suddenly, Fans Heartbroken

Shelley Duvall died on July 11, 2024, her longtime partner Dan Gilroy, announced. She was 75. The cause was complications of diabetes, said her friend the publicist Gary Springer.

“My dear, sweet, wonderful life, partner, and friend left us last night,” Gilroy said in a statement. “Too much suffering lately. Now, she’s free. Fly away beautiful Shelley.”

Shelley Duvall is best known for her star turn opposite Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Robin Williams in Popeye, and many other films from the ’70s and early ’80s.

Duvall became a beloved children’s TV presence in the ’80s, hosting the likes of “Faerie Tale Theatre” and “Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories”.
