Netflix Faces Boycott Demands Following Founder’s Multi-Million Dollar Donation to Kamala Harris

Streaming giant Netflix is facing calls for a boycott from conservatives after co-founder Reed Hastings donated a substantial sum to Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. This follows President Joe Biden’s surprising announcement that he will not seek re-election in 2024. In response to the leadership shift within the Democratic Party, Hastings contributed $7 million to Harris’ campaign.

Following Biden’s withdrawal, Hastings publicly endorsed Harris, supporting her as the new Democratic candidate. “Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win,” he posted on X. However, his comment sparked significant backlash from conservatives on social media.

One critic accused Hastings of endorsing an undemocratic “coup” that forced Biden out of the race. “Congrats”? What are you congratulating her for? She committed a coup against the sitting president of the United States. Where’s Joe?” Another user questioned Harris’s accomplishments, saying, “Can you tell me one thing she did while she was VP?”

In response to Hastings’ support for Harris, many have called for a boycott of Netflix. “I think it’s time to boycott Netflix. They are overcharging Americans anyway,” one user wrote. Another user, who had already canceled their subscription, commented, “So glad I canceled Netflix.”

Others shared similar sentiments, with one writing, “Just canceled Netflix…this was the final straw…too woke and clearly anti-American…any company actively contributing to Harris who lied for 4 years and is completely unfit for office is not getting my money…” Another user suggested a conspiracy, writing, “Obviously, operation weekend at Bernie’s was supposed to culminate in at least getting Biden over the finish line with all of the cheating no doubt they have planned, and then Kamala could just step into the role without the gamble.”

Despite support from Hastings and other mainstream figures, Harris has faced significant criticism. The American Tribune recently reported on Articles of Impeachment introduced against Vice President Harris by GOP Rep. Andy Ogles. Ogles accused Harris of committing high crimes and misdemeanors in her handling of the border and failing to uphold the Constitution.

“Kamala Harris has demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States,” Ogles wrote.

He further stated, “Vice President Harris has consistently refused to visit the southern border to evaluate this ongoing national crisis, aside from a single trip hundreds of miles away from the epicenter of the migrant crisis.” Ogles highlighted specific incidents, noting that “women and girls in the United States have paid a disproportionate price for the ongoing border crisis, tragically extenuated by the inaction of border [chief] Kamala Devi Harris.” He cited several tragic cases, including the murders and assaults of multiple women and girls by illegal aliens.
