However, after discovering that the booth was reserved to honor five slain police officers—Sergeant Michael J. Smith, Officer Michael Krol, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, and Mr. Brent Thompson—they felt privileged to be seated nearby. The restaurant had set aside the table, adorned with a sign and an American flag, as a tribute to these officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
