Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were tragically killed in a bike accident in New Jersey when struck by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. The brothers were cycling near the fog line of the roadway when Sean Higgins, 43, attempted to pass vehicles and struck them. Higgins is charged with two counts of death by auto.

The Blue Jackets expressed shock and sorrow, highlighting Gaudreau’s legacy as a loving family man and talented player known for his joy on the ice, from Boston College to the NHL, earning accolades like the Hobey Baker Award and multiple All-Star selections.
