They married in 1976 when she was pregnant, but faced complications when their son was born, diagnosed with meconium aspiration. After three years, their second child, a daughter, arrived, but their marriage ended in 1981 due to differing views on fidelity; she desired an open marriage while he wanted tradition. Following their split, she found love with Kurt Russell, and together they navigated blending their families.
