A New Jersey man, John, bought a four-bedroom house in Pennsylvania for his son, Mark, after college. John covered expenses while Mark managed day-to-day costs. Things were smooth until Mark’s fiancée, Lisa, moved in, and the couple began planning their wedding.

At a family barbecue, tension erupted when Lisa’s family told John’s wife and daughter they weren’t “their kind of people” and uninvited them from the wedding. Upset, John drove his family back to New Jersey.

Later, John discovered Lisa’s family had moved into the Pennsylvania house without permission. When they insisted he leave, John gave everyone 30 days to vacate and listed the house for sale, feeling his family was no longer prioritized. Many on Reddit supported John’s decision, saying he was right to reclaim the home.
