Old Man Asks Son to Take Him to Nursing Home as Opposed to Living with His Family – Story of the Day

Donald moved in with his son Peter after his house burned down, but he began to worry he was becoming a burden. His neighbor, Mary, fueled these concerns by saying his son would soon tire of him, just as her daughter had with her.

Though Peter and his wife insisted they were happy having Donald around, their late returns home made Donald uneasy. Eventually, he suggested moving to a nursing home, and Peter reluctantly agreed to visit one.

On the day of the visit, however, Peter drove Donald to his newly rebuilt house. The son had secretly restored it, saying, “You raised me here—this home belongs to us.” Overwhelmed with emotion, Donald realized his fears were unfounded and that Mary’s experience didn’t apply to him.

Lesson:
Everyone’s journey is unique. Just because someone else faced difficulties doesn’t mean you will.
Take care of your parents if possible—family is what matters most.
