In a recent interview, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) attributed President Donald Trump’s re-election to widespread “stupidity” among American voters and Congress members. She expressed frustration over the perceived decline in intellectual discourse, stating, “These people are just idiots… the level of stupidity they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing.”
Omar’s remarks have ignited online backlash, with critics accusing her of disparaging the electorate and the nation that granted her asylum from Somalia. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh highlighted her background, noting Somalia’s challenges, and criticized her “snobbish disdain” for the U.S.
During the interview, Omar also dismissed resurfaced allegations that she married her brother to circumvent immigration laws, labeling them as “baseless” and “absurd.” Despite her denials, reports suggest the FBI has initiated an investigation into the matter.
Additionally, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has called for Omar’s deportation, citing her advice to illegal immigrants on evading ICE. He stated, “America would be a better place if Ilhan Omar were deported back to Somalia.”
These developments underscore the deepening political divisions and the contentious discourse surrounding immigration and national identity in the U.S.
