Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital’ actress, dies at 85

Denise Alexander, beloved for her roles as Dr. Lesley Webber on General Hospital and Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives, has died at age 85. Though she passed on March 5, the news was shared only recently.

Frank Valentini, General Hospital’s executive producer, honored her legacy, calling her “a barrier-breaker” and “one of the first female doctors on daytime TV.”

Alexander’s career began in the 1950s with Broadway’s The Children’s Hour and spanned decades. She joined Days of Our Lives in 1964 and General Hospital in 1973, becoming a fan favorite.

Co-stars Genie Francis and Susan Seaforth Hayes paid heartfelt tributes, remembering her wisdom, warmth, and talent.

Born in New York City in 1939, Alexander is survived by her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Colla.
