Mixed Reactions as Government Advances Plan to Castrate Paedophiles Under New Legislation

In a bold move to crack down on sexual offenders, Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood is reportedly considering chemical castration for rapists and paedophiles in up to 20 prisons across England and Wales.

Backed by studies showing it could reduce reoffending by nearly two-thirds, the plan is gaining momentum — and support. A recent poll found 67% of under-30s approve of the drastic measure.

The treatment, already used in parts of the US and Europe, involves drugs that suppress sexual urges and reduce testosterone levels.

Critics call it extreme. Supporters call it overdue. The government says it’s about protecting the public.

Is this justice — or going too far? The nation is divided.
