Military helicopter crashes in Mexico

Following a powerful earthquake in Mexico on Friday, many survivors near the epicenter chose to sleep in open fields or their cars, fearing aftershocks in their damaged homes. However, tragedy struck again when a military helicopter carrying officials assessing the quake damage lost control while attempting to land and crashed onto vehicles filled with survivors.

The crash, in Jamiltepec, Oaxaca, killed 14 people on the ground, including at least three children, and injured 21 others. Interior Secretary Alfonso Navarrete and Oaxaca’s governor survived with minor injuries. Mexico’s Secretary of National Defense later apologized and pledged full responsibility, promising aid and support for the affected community.
