A former Biden State Department official, Levita Almuete Ferrer, 64, has pleaded guilty to stealing $657,347.50 over two years. She altered payee records in QuickBooks to cover her tracks and funneled the funds into personal accounts.
Ferrer, who worked as a senior budget analyst, admitted to disguising the theft in the State Department’s accounting system. She faces up to 10 years in prison and will be sentenced on September 18.
