When Skin Grafts Grow Hair on the Tongue: An Unusual Side Effect of Cancer Reconstruction

Hair growth on a reconstructed tongue can occur when a skin graft containing hair follicles is used to repair tissue damaged by cancer. Since the graft came from a part of the body with active follicles, hair may continue to grow even inside the mouth.

The hair can be removed using standard methods like laser treatment or electrolysis — or, as in this case, left untreated.
