SUPREME COURT HANDS TRUMP A LANDMARK IMMIGRATION WIN

In a stunning 8–1 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with President Donald Trump, clearing the path for his administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for roughly 300,000 Venezuelan migrants. Even several liberal justices joined the majority, leaving only Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson in dissent.

The ruling overturns a lower court injunction that had blocked the administration’s plan to revoke protections granted under President Biden. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s February memo formally rescinding TPS cited national interest and improved conditions in Venezuela. With the injunction lifted, deportations are set to accelerate — adding to the more than 527,000 removals already carried out since Trump’s return to office. Supporters hail the decision as a restoration of executive authority, while critics warn it marks the harshest rollback of humanitarian relief in modern U.S. immigration history.
