After three decades, a woman discovered her abrosexuality

For many years, hidden behind a facade of confusion and self-doubt, I struggled with an inner conflict exacerbated by a society that often recognized only three sexual identities: heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.

The 2000s and early XNUMXs were characterized by a highly restrictive perspective on… sexuality, where alternative sexual identities were often dismissed as fictional or unimportant.

This limited and often rigid view significantly slowed down my self-acceptance, as I continually struggled with a sexuality that did not seem fixed, but rather fluctuated between different orientations, without any form of stability or recognition.

Education And Outreach

The turning point in my personal quest came when I came across the term “abrosexuality” on a social media page of Zoe Stoller, an American social worker who works to raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community.

Stoller’s enlightening messages about lesser-known sexual identities have not only shed light on the diverse realities within our community, but also provided individuals like me with a platform to find and understand themselves in a world that often recognizes only the most visible spectrum colors.

Acceptance

The road to self-acceptance was littered challenges, not only from an inner perspective, but also in the confrontation with social expectations and stereotypical images.

Every discussion in which I tried to explain or defend my sexuality emphasized the need for broader societal understanding and acceptance of sexual diversity.

These conversations deeply impressed upon me the importance of being open to new learning and embracing a multitude of identities.
