US actress Gena Rowlands, renowned for her roles in films like “Woman Under the Influence” and “Gloria,” has passed away. The actress’ death was confirmed by the talent agency WME, which represents her son, Nick Cassavetes, according to the German Press Agency. She died on Wednesday in Indian Wells, Southern California, at the age of 94.

Nick Cassavetes, 65, revealed in June that his mother had been battling Alzheimer’s for several years. He cast her in the 2004 romantic drama “The Notebook,” where she portrayed a woman with Alzheimer’s living in a nursing home, a role that echoed her own struggles.
