Tekoa’s Susannah Scaroni clinches her third Paralympic medal, earning silver in the 5,000 meters.

Susannah Scaroni, a native of Tekoa, Washington, has completed her collection of Paralympic medals by winning silver in the T54 5,000 meters at the Stade de France in Paris, with a time of 10 minutes, 45.18 seconds.

Despite aiming to defend her gold from the Tokyo 2021 games, Scaroni finished just behind Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner, who set a Paralympic record with a time of 10:43.62. This silver medal is Scaroni’s third across her four Paralympic Games, following a bronze in the 800 meters in Tokyo. With upcoming events in the 1,500 meters, 800 meters, and marathon, she has the potential to add more medals to her tally. This is also the first Paralympic medal for the ParaSport Spokane athletes at the Paris games.
