Pamela Salem, known for her roles in “EastEnders” and “Doctor Who,” has passed away at the age of 80. Born in India in 1944 and educated at the University of Heidelberg and the Central School of Drama, Salem’s acting career spanned stage, TV, and film, including repertory theater and notable performances in Shakespeare, Chekhov, and Pinter plays.

She played Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again” (1983) alongside Sean Connery and was known for her voice work in Big Finish audio dramas. Salem also starred in 37 episodes of “EastEnders” as Joanne Francis and portrayed Professor Rachel Jensen in “Doctor Who.” Residing in Florida, she was cherished by her colleagues, who remembered her warmth and generosity. She was married to actor Michael O’Hagan from 1983 until his passing in 2017.
